Job Summary
The Education Specialist serves as a coordinator and content developer for the Fraternity Office, on projects that primarily relate to new member education and educational programming. They also work collaboratively with the Director of Educational Initiatives and the other co-specialists within the Education and Programming Team.
Essential Job Functions
Provide advice, guidance, training, and educational materials for chapters and provisional chapters.
Manage and maintain essential educational platforms on LambdaU (e.g., Exordium: New Member Education Program and the New Member Educator training).
Curate educational resources, operational best practices, and external resources for use by all Brothers.
Facilitate reviews of educational materials and programs.
Organize small trainings/presentations for the Fraternity Office and individual chapters.
Work collaboratively with Regional Directors and Assistant Regional Directors to provide needed resources for chapters and provisional chapters.
Fulfill other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
An Alumnx of Delta Lambda Phi
Bachelor’s degree and traditional (degree, employment) or non-traditional (service, volunteer work, etc.) experience in education or pedagogy
Knowledge of and experience with effective practices and resources for topics regarding justice, equity, diversity, inclusion, and anti-racism
Ability to develop and revise educational materials through research for information and resources
Ability to work collaboratively and independently
Strong communication skills (convey ideas effectively and respectfully, respond to emails in a timely fashion, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with “backwards design” or other curriculum development frameworks
Ability to construct, lead, and co-facilitate workshops and trainings
Ability to seek out and gather external resources as needed
Ability to identify trends and anticipate needs of diverse populations
Prior experience in program implementation and event planning
Expected Workload
3-5 hours per week (including travel time) throughout the year.
