Br. Brandon Ha, Cal State Long Beach, wins Homecoming Queen

Updated: Jul 29, 2022

Delta Lambda Phi is thrilled to congratulate Br. Brandon Ha on his historic win as Homecoming Queen 2019 at California State University, Long Beach. Brandon is a human development major with a concentration in oppression and a minor in American Sign Language.

The court was the first ever non-gendered homecoming court at a major University. Delta Lambda Phi applauds this step towards greater equality for genderfluid inclusion.

Said Brandon, “Winning the first ever non-gendered homecoming court means so much to me as a genderfluid person but also as a drag queen. It affirms my gender and shows other young LGBT students you can win as well.” Brandon performs drag using the persona Yaki Soba.

The advances that the University and chapter have made at the college, led by Brandon’s passion and pride, have been paramount in the continued inclusion of LGBTQIA+ persons on campus. Brandon has supported both the LGBT Center and Disabled Student Services center on campus, while also being involved with countless other organizations at Cal State and in the community.

Delta Lambda Phi is proud to call Brandon one of our brothers and we celebrate his success.
