• Is there hazing in the pledge process?
    No. Hazing is not allowed.

  • Is Delta Lambda Phi (DLP) a 'sex club'?
No. Delta Lambda Phi is a social fraternity, providing a positive place to meet lifelong friends.

  • What's the difference between Delta Lambda Phi and BGLA?
It is not the intention of DLP to be in competition with any other groups (gay or straight, including BGLA).

The principle difference is that BGLA is an activism group, organizing many events to celebrate diversity and national gay holidays. It is a place for actively OUT Bisexuals, Gays, Lesbians, and Allies to get together. DLP, on the other hand, is aimed to provide a discreet way for gay men to have a dignified and purposeful social life. DLP was created to enable gay men to have a place in which to form quality, lifelong friendships with other gay men -- a place to find Brotherhood.

  • Do you have to be a student to join?
No, it is not necessary to be a student at NC State to join DLP. Nationally we have two types of chapters, campus-based and community based. The Beta-Alpha chapter is community based, but it is focused on the NC State campus. College students from the area who are willing to commute to NCSU campus for weekly meetings are invited to join.

  • Do you discriminate?
No. There are no 'litmus tests' concerning membership eligibility.

  • What about age limitations?
Due to legal liabilities, we can not let anybody under 18 to join.

  • How does one go about joining?
There are periodic membership drives called 'Rushes,' which are publicized. Going to the open Rush events and meeting the Brothers is a good way of finding out more about what the fraternity is about.

  • Is it a national fraternity, or just a sort of a 'pretend' fraternity?
Delta Lmbda Phi was founded in 1986. We currently have over twenty chapters nationwide. We have an elected Board of Trustees and hold a National Convention every year. It is in every sense of the word a social fraternity, based on the college Greek model. It is a 501(c)7 organization.

  • What about locally in NC State? How well is Delta Lambda Phi connect with the rest of the University?
We currently operate as a registered student organization on NC State campus, directly under Greek Life and a member of the Collaborative Greek Council.

  • Do you have a house? Do I have to move in if I join?
We currently do not have our own frat house.
